BJP-led alliance in Tripura celebrates two years in government

The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led coalition government in Tripura celebrated the completion of two years in power on Saturday (March 8, 2025).

The first BJP-led government took charge in 2018 with Biplab Kumar Deb as Chief Minister, but he resigned after three-and-a-half years, and passed the baton to Manik Saha.

Dr. Saha presided over the official second anniversary celebration, attended by Ministers from the BJP, the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT), and the Tipra Motha, as well as senior government officials. Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee and East Tripura Lok Sabha MP Kriti Devi Debbarman were present, but former CM and West Tripura MP Mr. Deb did not attend.

Dr. Saha highlighted the State government’s major achievements over the previous seven years, covering two successive governments. He took oath as Chief Minister for the second time on March 8, 2023, after the BJP and its partners won the 2023 Assembly election.

“The present BJP-led government has been tirelessly working for development and good governance since its inception in 2018,” Dr. Saha said. He described his chief ministership as a blessing from the people of Tripura.

The BJP as a party will mark the completion of two years in government on Sunday. A public rally has been organised at the Vivekananda Stadium here. The party’s national president and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda is expected to attend, with thousands of supporters at the rally. Senior leaders of the IPFT and the Tipra Motha have been invited.
