Bollywood actress Bhagyashree rose to immense stardom right from her debut film – Maine Pyar Kiya, co-starring Salman Khan. At the peak of her career, she left behind everything and went to live happily ever after with the man of her dreams, Himalaya Dassani. Since 1989, they have been married and blessed with one son Abhimanyu Dassani and one daughter, Avantika Dassani. Now, the actress revealed the real reason why she didn’t join acting right after giving birth. However, she also opined about instilling gender equality in her kids.
In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Bhagyashree reflected on leaving her career right at the time when she was at her peak. According to her, balancing professional life with motherhood is a fight which is being fought by many working mothers. However, she was extremely young to manage both at that time when she had embraced motherhood. Expressing respect for all those ladies, the actress shared, “To strike the balance somewhere, there is no right or wrong. It is a fight that you have to win every day. So you have to put on your armour, go out there, and do your work.”
However, the actress, who has already returned to the film business, revealed that at that time, she never wanted to leave her kids back at home while she went to work. She explained, “I didn’t believe in leaving my children with nannies. Though I had my in-laws, I didn’t think it was right to expect them to look after a toddler. And I would hate it if I were to come back home and someone told me, ‘We are looking after your kids.’”
Cherishing the beauty of her motherhood phase, she shared, “I didn’t want to leave behind being a mother to her (Avantika Dasani),” adding how she had matured by the time she embraced parenthood for the second time, “I think I was more capable at that age than I was when Abhimanyu (Dasani) was born. I was far too young to manage both worlds.”
In the same conversation, she then discussed her opinion of instilling gender equality in her children. She revealed the importance of both sons and daughters being capable of handling various household tasks, including cooking.
On her professional front, Bhagyashree’s recent work includes featuring as a talent judge for the dance reality show DID Super Moms, as ‘Kalyani’ in a Hindi film Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video, and a few other television series.
In addition to her acting career, the 56-year-old has been engaged in various philanthropic activities and also often shares insights into her fitness regimes. Not only that, she claims to be a nutritionist and keeps posting her clean cooking recipes using homemade processes.
