Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner continue to prioritise their co-parenting responsibilities as shown by their recent appearance at a school play with their middle child Fin on January 26 in Santa Monica, California. The former couple arrived at the event separately. Garner kept her outfit casual, wearing a jacket over a sweater and jeans while Affleck was spotted stepping outside for a smoke break during the event, according to photos obtained by Daily Mail.
Garner and Affleck share three children: Violet, 19, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12. Over the years, they have managed to stay friendly, particularly when it comes to their parenting duties. In fact, their ability to maintain an amicable relationship has been evident since Affleck’s high-profile divorce from Jennifer Lopez.
This school play event was not the first time the two came together for their kids. In the past, they have often been seen supporting their family while also maintaining a cordial relationship. The two spent more time together with their kids during Thanksgiving celebrations last year. Garner was spotted picking up bagels in Los Angeles on December 7 and the two enjoyed a quiet breakfast before taking a drive around Brentwood and later heading to Affleck’s home.
Affleck and Garner first met on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2001. After reconnecting years later, they were married in 2005 and went on to have their three children. Following a decade of marriage, Affleck and Garner announced their decision to divorce in 2015.
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding,” they said in a joint statement.
Garner has been dating John Miller on and off since 2018, while Affleck rekindled his relationship with Lopez. They married in 2022 but their marriage hit a rough patch as Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024. The news came after months of speculation surrounding their relationship. According to reports, their divorce will officially be finalised on February 20. Both parties have agreed to keep the property they each acquired during their marriage and have decided not to seek spousal support from one another moving forward.
