Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Sanam Teri Kasam are re-running in theaters. Sanam Teri Kasam has doubled its lifetime collections. Mukesh Bhatt may re-release Jannat and Awarapan.

Awarapan, Jannat are big hits starring Emraan Hashmi.

There’s no stopping the re-release wave at the box office! At the moment, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Sanam Teri Kasam are re-running in theatres with throngs of audiences flocking in to wash themselves over with feelings of nostalgia. Sanam Teri Kasam, in fact, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane has been wreaking havoc at the ticket counters, leaving behind latest releases like Badass Ravi Kumar and Lovepaya. It went on to clock double its life-time collections within three days of re-release. Needless to say, fans on social media have been making demands for other popular films to be re-released.

Earlier today, a report stated that Emraan Hashmi starrer Jannat and Awarapan may once again hit the theatres soon. The former released in 2008 and emerged as a box office success. As for Awarapan, it failed to rake in the moolah but has attained a cult status over the years. Both films remain memorable not just due to the chemistry between their lead pairs but also for their music. However, it seems like the news isn’t completely true. Speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, producer Mukesh Bhatt makes an anti-climactic revelation.

Bhatt, who had bankrolled both Jannat and Awarapan, tells us, “Oh my god (laughs)! There’s an avalanche of this news coming to me from different nook and corner. Yes, it’s true that people are approaching me. But I believe in a marketing fundamental that don’t give them what you have but what they want. I feel like the terrain is asking me for the re-release of these lovely movies, which have been big successes. I want to discuss it with my team and see what we can do.”

For the veteran producer, this demand stems from the super success of Sanam Teri Kasam, the music of which struck a chord with the audience as intensely as that of Jannat and Awarapan. “Nothing is fixed yet. We’re still in the process of discussion. I’ve been receiving so many enquiries about Jannat and Awarapan because of the success of Sanam Teri Kasam. My music has in these films has also been a big hit. Let me see what are the options and what I can do! But at the moment, to be very honest, nothing is fixed,” he states.

Earlier, speaking to us, Emraan had also commented on how Awarapan co-starring Shriya Saran ‘aged so well’. “It wasn’t so successful in 2007 but today, it’s my most successful film. It’s so surprising that what it didn’t do in the subsequent weekends at the box office, it did over a course of 20 years! It went on to garner so much of respect and so many eyeballs. It bears a testament to the fact that films can also succeed over a certain amount of time. There was some truth in my performance in it and that’s when I told myself that I only want to do performance-driven films,” he told us.
