Avantel secures ₹43.25 crore order from ISRO’s commercial arm NSIL

Strategic communication products firm Avantel has bagged a ₹43.25 crore order from Indian Space Research Organisation’s commercial arm NewSpace India (NSIL) to supply, install and commission 45,252 devices for Xponder’s.

These devices will be deployed on marine fishing vessels to enhance security across India’s coastal regions. The order is slated for completion by August. NSIL is a central public sector enterprise under the Department of Space, Avantel said in a release.

Avantel had earlier secured two orders for supply of 26,743 Xponder units and establishment of the Ground Segment Hub for the Vessel Communication and Support System. The deployments will strengthen monitoring, control and surveillance capabilities thus contributing to maritime security and operational efficiency in the fisheries sector.

“We are continuing our collaboration with NewSpace India. The [latest] order strengthens our efforts to provide communication solutions for maritime safety and efficiency,” Director Siddhartha Abburi said. Avantel is into designing, developing and maintaining advanced communication products, radar systems and network management software applications, primarily catering to the aerospace and defence sectors.
