Assam To Launch ‘ASSAMSAT’ Satellite To Boost Development And Security, Announces FM Ajanta Neog

Assam is preparing to launch its own satellite, ‘ASSAMSAT’, to enhance development and security across the state, as announced by Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog during the presentation of the 2025-26 state budget in the Assembly on Monday.

The satellite will play a vital role in providing continuous and reliable data for key projects in agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure development, border security, and law enforcement.

The ambitious project will be executed in collaboration with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) under the Union Ministry of Space, marking a significant step towards leveraging space technology for improved governance and service delivery in Assam.

The Assam government also plans to involve college and university students in the development of experimental satellites, aiming to foster innovation and inspire young minds. The initiative will be carried out in partnership with IN-SPACe and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

With the launch of ‘ASSAMSAT’, Assam is set to make substantial advancements in space technology, strengthening its administrative, developmental, and security frameworks.
