The crime branch of the Assam police on Friday (March 7, 2025) grilled YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia for his controversial remarks on ‘India’s Got Latent’ show.

A case was registered against him and four others — Ashish Chanchlani, Samay Raina, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija — by the Guwahati police in February.

Joint Commissioner of Police Ankur Jain told journalists that Mr. Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps answered the questions he was asked “on different aspects of the episode” telecast on the “objectionable” show. The grilling went on for about four hours.

“He was cooperative. He assured us that he would cooperate in the investigation in the future,” Mr. Jain said, adding that summoning the YouTuber would depend on the progress of the investigation.

He also said notices were served to the four others, of whom only Mr. Chanchlani responded and was interrogated on February 27, days after the Gauhati High Court granted him interim bail.

“We will look at their explanations and accordingly, decide on issuing fresh notices to the three,” Mr. Jain said.

The first information report against the five persons was lodged under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhtia, Information Technology Act and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
