Assam: EAM S. Jaishankar And Ambassadors From 45 Countries Take Elephant Safari In Kaziranga National Park

Guwahati, Feb 24: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with the ambassadors and heads of missions from 45 countries, participated in an Elephant Safari at Kaziranga National Park on Monday. This special event was organized ahead of the Advantage Assam summit, which is scheduled to take place in Guwahati on February 25.

During the visit, Minister Jaishankar expressed his delight in witnessing the growing influx of tourists to the region. “We are here for the Advantage Assam summit, and after this, we head to Guwahati. Our objective is to promote Assam and the northeastern states, attract international tourists, and encourage greater investment,” he said.

The minister also highlighted Kaziranga’s rising popularity, stating, “I’ve been informed that Kaziranga has already hosted over three lakh tourists this year, which is a positive trend. As Prime Minister Modi often emphasizes, we should visit every state to explore the wealth of natural and cultural tourism.”

Diplomats from various countries shared their experiences as well. A delegate from Timor-Leste noted, “It was a privilege to visit Kaziranga and witness the diverse wildlife, including elephants, rhinos, and tigers. The peaceful coexistence of such powerful creatures like the rhino and elephant is a lesson in harmony.”

Another ambassador expressed gratitude, stating, “While we are based in New Delhi, having the chance to explore Assam’s natural beauty has been a memorable experience. I wish long life to the animals here.”

The Elephant Safari was part of the lead-up to the Advantage Assam summit, an initiative aimed at promoting Assam’s geostrategic advantages and attracting investment. Known for its tea gardens, petroleum resources, and emerging sectors like agriculture, tourism, and IT, Assam is positioning itself as a key destination for both tourists and investors.
