Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to make history as the first sitting Chief Minister to attend Republic Day celebrations in Dibrugarh. The town is adorned with tricolour decorations in preparation for the significant event.
Taking to social media, CM Sarma expressed his pride, stating, “Dibrugarh is all set to host the Central Republic Day celebrations for the first time. From being affected by militancy to now hosting full-scale Republic Day celebrations, it has come a long way.”
While Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya will unfurl the national flag at Khanapara in Guwahati, CM Sarma will lead the celebrations in Dibrugarh.
Recently, CM Sarma reviewed the preparations for the event, directing officials from the General Administration and Police Administration to ensure seamless operations, particularly in newly created co-districts. He also emphasized the importance of cleanliness drives across the state, with the participation of village heads and voluntary organizations.
As part of the lead-up to the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, ‘Road Past’ events will be held on January 25 in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and other district headquarters.
