Guwahati, Mar 22: The Assam government has introduced the Assam Coaching Institutes (Control and Regulation) Bill, 2025, in the Assembly to regulate private coaching centres. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu presented the Bill on Friday, making the registration of all coaching institutes mandatory and ensuring adherence to specified guidelines.
The Bill applies to all coaching centres, including those operating before its enactment, requiring them to register with the authorities. It prohibits institutes from engaging in activities related to religious conversion and mandates compliance with secular principles outlined in the Constitution.
Institutes seeking registration must provide details on their curriculum, class duration, co-curricular activities, faculty qualifications, tuition fees, infrastructure, and other facilities. The registration certificate will be valid for two years, with renewal required thereafter. Applications for registration must be processed within three months.
To simplify the process, the government will introduce an online portal to facilitate registration with minimal human intervention. In case of violations, authorities will have the power to cancel or suspend the registration of coaching institutes.
