Netflix India’s Dabba Cartel, featuring Shabana Azmi and Jyotika, received great reviews. Anusha Dandekar praised her sister Shibani, the co-creator of the show.

Netflix India’s latest offering, Dabba Cartel, opened to great reviews. On Thursday, February 27, a screening for the show was held. It was attended by the star cast’s families and the who’s who of showbiz. Actor-VJ Anusha Dandekar, too, was a part of the screening. She praised the show’s executive producer, her big sister Shibani Dandekar, for backing the project.
Dabba Cartel boasts an ensemble cast of Shabana Azmi, Jyotika, Shalini Pandey, Anjali Anand, Nimisha Sajayan, and others in a key role. Anusha first hyped her sister in a long note, and then the rest of the cast.
“I don’t know where to begin coz there are so many thoughts and so many feelings. I have never felt more proud of my big sister. Seeing her entire journey, in a world where we are all trying to find our own identity and here she is not only finding and creating a space for herself but coming out shining! Making something that the whole world will watch and I know will LOVE,” wrote Anusha, expressing adulation for her sister.
She then went on to review the show and had only words of praise. She added, “The one thing I love about my family is that we will never lie about how we feel about each others work… so here’s my whole truth… Dabba Cartel is brilliant, suspenseful, different, engaging, funny, thrilling and overall just a great watch! From the beginning to the 3rd episode where they left us, we all couldn’t wait to see what happens next, which we get to see with the world today!!! The performances are so so natural and real.”
Anusha then went on to praise Shibani’s mother-in-law, Shabana Azmi, who headlines Dabba Cartel. “Starting with the incredible @azmishabana18 you are truly someone that takes our breath away, how can someone have THAT much screen presence without even having to say something? Wow! I’m blown,” she wrote. The Juna Furniture actor gave a special shout-out to Shalini, Anjali, Nimisha, Sai Tamhankar, and the rest of the star cast.
Anusha concluded her note with heartwarming words for Shibani, ushering sister goals. She wrote, “Chicken you did it!!! And it’s just the beginning!!! Now go sit on your favourite spot on the sofa with all the babies and watch your show SHINE with YOU today and always!”
Netflix’s Dabba Cartel is about the thrilling journey of five middle class women who run a dabba (lunchbox) business which leads them to the shady and dangerous world of drug cartel. The show is produced under Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment banner, with Shibani, Vishnu Menon, Gaurav Kapur, and Akanksha Seda as creators. It is co-written by Bhavna Kher and Vishnu Menon. It is now available for streaming on Netflix.
