The Additional Labour Commissioner on Thursday held one more round of negotiations between Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU)-backed Samsung India Workers Union (SIWU) and the company’s management over the suspension of union members, but it ended without a resolution.

A section of employees at the Samsung factory in Sriperumbudur have been on strike since February 5 over various demands, including the reinstatement of the suspended workers. The company had suspended 14 more members last week.

Meanwhile as planned CITU has started issuing strike notice to industrial units in the region.

E. Muthukumar, district secretary, CITU Kancheepuram, said strike notice to 40 units and the strike would be held on March 13 or post that.

Next round of talks is slated for Friday.

It is important for all employees to adhere to company policies, and those who violate these policies will face disciplinary action after due process,” a Samsung India spokesperson said in a statement last week.
