Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett have finally started working on the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, Verity. The update came months after it was confirmed that the Princess Diaries actress has been roped in to play Verity Crawford, a famous author who is unable to finish her novel after an accident. On the other hand, Hartnett will play Jeremy Crawford, Verity’s husband. Pictures from the film’s sets have surfaced online, showing Hathaway and Hartnett shooting certain sequences as a couple.
One of the pictures features the actors in semi-formal attire, happily running through NYC streets while holding hands with each other. While the actor leads the way, dressed in a white shirt, black trousers, and an unfastened bow, Anne Hathaway could be seen cheerfully following him, holding onto her belongings.
In another one, the Devil Wears Prada star could be seen exiting her trailer, dressed in a long white dress with a keyhole neckline and long sleeves and holding a book in hand. Hartnett was dressed in a casual way, sporting jeans and a sweater.

Dakota Johnson has also been signed on for the project and is expected to join the team in the coming days. She will feature as Lowen, an aspiring writer who bags the job to finish Verity’s successful book, only to find herself uncovering the Crawford family’s hidden, dark secrets. Verity’s shooting has picked up momentum right at the time when the legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni continues to make headlines. For those unaware, the actors featured in Colleen’s last novel adaptation, It Ends With Us.
While the film enjoyed decent success at the box office, Lively ended up filing a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment on the sets. The latter also sued her back, with the two now locked in a heated legal battle.
More About Verity Film Adaptation
The upcoming thriller novel adaptation is being directed by Michael Showalter, who previously worked with Anne Hathaway on The Idea of You. Showalter, along with Hathaway and Colleen Hoover, will serve as producers, while Lauren Levine of Heartbones will executive produce. “Upon arrival at the lavish Crawford estate, Lowen slowly learns that things are not exactly as they seem with the discovery of a secret, unfinished manuscript that may divulge chilling admissions about the family’s past,” the official logline for the film reads.
A release date is yet to be announced for the film.
