Ananya Panday talks about her favourite roles
Ananya Panday is one of the most popular actresses in the industry. She was last seen in Call Me Bae and fans just loved her performance. She is currently shooting for the sequel. And amid this in a conversation with Vogue, the actress revealed that she would love to play Poo and Geet character of Kareena Kapoor if given a chance.
In the interview, Ananya recalled Call Me Bae director Collin D’Cunha asking her to reveal the characters she would like to play. Ananya mentioned Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Geet from Jab We Met. She stated, “I could probably not even give 0.1 percent of what Kareena did with either of those characters, but they would be so much fun.” The actress further mentioned Kareena’s role in Chameli, Konkona Sensharma in Luck by Chance and Deepika Padukone in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
Ananya Panday will be soon seen with Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan starrer film. The announcement was made in 2024 by Karan Johar. The trio’s first film together is titled Kesari Chapter 2. Backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, it is based on the story of lawyer C Sankaran Nair, who fought an ‘unprecedented battle’ against the British empire in the 1920s after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Kesari Chapter 2 was previously slated to be released on March 14, 2025. Helmed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film is based on the book, The Case That Shook the Empire, by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat.
An excerpt from the book’s synopsis reads: “The widely-reported trial – one of the longest in history – stunned a world that finally recognized some of the horrors being committed by the British in India. Through reports of court proceedings along with a nuanced portrait of a complicated nationalist who believed in his principles above all else, The Case That Shook the Empire reveals, for the very first time, the real details of the fateful case that marked the defining moment in India’s struggle for Independence.”
As per reports, Akshay will play lawyer C Sankaran Nair in the film. However, not much is known about Ananya and Madhavan’s roles as of now.
