Ali Fazal will reportedly start shooting for Paatal Lok Season 1 director Prosit Roy for a Prime Video series, amid financial fraud allegations on Rakt Brahmand.

Ali Fazal has been roped in to play a leading character in Rakt Brahmand.

Raj & DK’s much-awaited Netflix series, Rakt Brahmand, has been under the scanner for reports pertaining to a possible financial fraud. While the cast has maintained silence on the matter, Ali Fazal, who was to play a leading character in the series, has reportedly paused shoot for the time being.

As per industry sources, Fazal has started shooting for Paatal Lok 1 director Prosit Roy for a Prime Video series, co-starring Sonali Bendre. “Ali was to start this show a little later in the year. But with the break in Rakt Bramhand’s shoot, owing to the reimagining of some sequences and some reported financial mismanagement, this series is starting earlier than expected,” a source told Mid-Day.

The series, based on true events, will be first shot in Delhi before moving base to Mumbai for the final leg. The source further added, “Since it’s based on real-life events, the team is finalising real locations across Delhi. Prosit, who previously co-directed the first season of Paatal Lok, wants to keep the visuals raw and immersive. The series will also see Ali perform elaborate action sequences. After the Delhi schedule wraps up by May, the unit will move to Mumbai, where the climax will be filmed. The second leg may overlap with Rakt Bramhand, but Ali will juggle the two projects.”

For the unversed, reports suggest that Rs 2-3 crore was allegedly misappropriated from Rakt Brahmand’s production by an executive producer, resulting in disruption. The show stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi in key roles.

Meanwhile, Raj & DK have addressed the rumours of financial fraud affecting the production of Rakt Brahmand and Gulkanda Tales. They promised fans that both the shows are proceeding at their designated pace, despite ongoing rumours.

“Sh*t will keep happening… someone will steal, someone will throw you under the bus, people will say what they want to… The best reaction to all of it seems to be to just keep at it. To break new ground and keep coming to you with new, original stories. That’s been the promise. We just thought we needed to take a moment to reiterate this,” read a part of their note.
