Akshay Kumar has starred in several patriotic films in his career. From Baby and Mission Mangal to Sky Force and Airlift, Akshay has made several cinematic attempts to save the nation on film. In a recent chat, the actor revealed that his wife, Twinkle Khanna, teased him for making so many patriotic films. However, Akshay said he would continue to do so as he follows his heart.
At an event held by Republic World, Akshay Kumar said that he has starred in several patriotic films since he started his own production house. In fact, my wife teases me, ‘How many times will you save the country?’” he said. Akshay said he was inspired by Hollywood films where Americans always save the world and thought that Indians could do it better.
“But let me tell you something, and you will agree with me. We have seen so many Hollywood films where whenever there is any kind of trouble in the world – terror strike, alien invasion, asteroids falling from the sky, whatever might happen, who saves the world? America. So I started thinking that if America does everything, then when will we do anything? Don’t we know what India can do? India can do a lot,” he said.
Akshay Kumar’s last patriotic film was Sky Force, where he played an Indian Air Force officer. Akshay said, “I know that such films don’t do much business because people want to watch entertainment, but let me tell you, I make these films because my heart says so. And I will keep on making these films about my country. The best part is, after the film releases, that is when people start watching it on streaming platforms.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay Kumar is taking a break from patriotism and returning to comedy with Welcome To The Jungle, Hera Pheri 3 and Bhoot Bangla.
