Bollywood is bringing back iconic films to reignite box office numbers, and Akshay Kumar is leading the way by re-releasing his hit film Namastey London after 17 years. Known for its catchy songs, unforgettable dialogues, and the sizzling chemistry between Akshay and Katrina Kaif, the film will return to theatres on March 14, coinciding with the celebration of Holi. Directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the movie was a massive success when it first hit the screens and continues to be cherished by fans. Fans are buzzing with excitement, eager to experience the magic of the film again. Even Katrina Kaif shared her excitement in response to Akshay’s announcement.
Taking to Instagram, the superstar wrote, “Thrilled to announce the re-release of Namastey London on the big screen this Holi, 14th March. Get ready to relive the magic, unforgettable songs, iconic dialogues and timeless romance with Katrina Kaif, all over again. See you at the movies.” Shortly after the announcement, Katrina showed her support by liking the post.
Namastey London follows “Jasmeet alias Jazz, a young Indian woman, modern in looks and attitude, lives in London, dating an English boy. Her father detests her irresponsible lifestyle and marries her off to Arjun, a funny yet a level-headed farmer. Jazz continues to ridicule him but Arjun plays along. The story is a romantic comedy, a tug of war of emotions, which will determine whether love is more about giving or taking.”
In an earlier interview with Pinkvilla, director Vipul Amrutlal Shah shared that he and the writers worked hard to perfect Akshay Kumar’s patriotic scene with the British character. He praised writers Suresh Nair and Ritesh Shah for their dedication, and shared that they spent over three months perfecting the scene. Even on the day of the shoot, they made adjustments to ensure every line was impactful.
Revealing how both the actors reacted to the change, Vipul said, “Akshay and Katrina had read the script, and they were aware that this scene was there. And I kept telling them, don’t go by those dialogues, I am going to get you a better scene. So when they read it, they said, ‘Vipul, this is a killer, it’s terrific, and it’s going to be huge’.”
Other than Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, Namastey London also features Rishi Kapoor, Nina Wadia, Upen Patel, Clive Standen and Jawed Sheikh. The movie also had several interesting cameos of actors such as Gurpreet Ghuggi, Vir Das and Riteish Deshmukh.
