Adrien Brody took home a golden statuette for his remarkable performance in the period drama The Brutalist at the 97th Academy Awards held on March 2. The 51-year-old not only celebrated a career-defining victory but also set a Guinness World Record with the longest acceptance speech in Oscars history. A day after the triumphant moment at the Dolby Theatre, the actor shared a short and sweet message for his fans.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, March 4, Adrien posted a video with the caption, “Believe in hope. Believe in yourself. Spread love, not hate. And thank you #keepsmiling.” Sporting a casual tee and baseball cap, the actor appeared overjoyed, with a broad smile on his face. “Y’all I got no sleep. I got no sleep last night. I am gonna keep this video short cuz I know I made the longest Oscars speech in history,” he began his clip with, while giving a brief chuckle acknowledging his now-famous Oscars moment.
“So, I am going to keep it short. I love you all. You know I am grateful, keep smiling, and I hope that this proves that dreams can come true and I hope that your dreams come true as well. God bless you,” added Adrien while taking a brisk walk in his locality. With that, he signed off, leaving fans with a dose of optimism and a reminder that “dreams do come true.”
Immediately after Adrien’s post, thousands of people on the internet reacted to the short clip, with fans and fellow celebrities showering him with praise for both his win and his inspiring words.
Meanwhile, right after winning his second Best Actor Oscar, the 51-year-old took to Instagram, sharing a heartfelt post for his parents. Adrien posted two throwback photos of his parents from his childhood. In the first image, he is seen planting a kiss on his father’s cheek, whereas in the second image, his mother is seen lovingly cradling him in her arms.
In the caption, Adrien wrote, “Thank you to all my friends and colleagues for sharing this special day with me. No matter the outcome, I am so full of joy and appreciation to be able to share this special moment with my mom and dad, who have given me the hope to dream, the encouragement to become the person I am, and to be brave enough to do what I still love to do today. Sending love and positivity to you all! Thank you @theacademy.”
Adrien won the Best Actor award for his role as Laszlo Toth, a Hungarian-Jewish architect, in The Brutalist. He had previously won the same award for his 2002 film The Pianist, becoming the youngest-ever recipient.
