Visionary filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is celebrating his 62nd birthday today, and social media has been flooded with lovely wishes for the director. Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who worked with him in the Netflix series Heeramandi, celebrated his cinematic genius, and penned a heartfelt birthday wish for him. She also shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the grand, royal sets of Heeramandi. Aditi played the role of Bibbojaan in the series.
The first picture shared by Aditi Rao Hydari shows her lovingly hugging Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The picture beautifully captures a heartfelt moment between them. In the next picture, Bhansali is seen guiding Aditi through a scene in Heeramandi, offering direction and suggestions. Meanwhile, the last photo shows a candid moment between them on Heeramandi set. The picture seems to be from the time Aditi was shooting for the popular ‘Gajagamini walk’ scene. Aditi and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are seen smiling while talking to each other on the set, and it beautifully portrays the warmth and camaraderie they share. Earlier, in an interview with Connect Cine, Aditi Rao Hydari talked about the viral Gajagamini walk, and credit Sanjay Leela Bhansali for helping her getting it right. That walk, just that little tukda from thumri, it is all over the internet. I really didn’t expect that and Sanjay sir did say, ‘Ye chaal bahut important hai (This walk is very important).’ He has so much knowledge so he was very much involved in the making of the song,” she said.
She further added, “Kruti Mahesh was there choreographing but he was completely involved in every detail of the choreography and he was very particular about this walk and how it should happen, how will the dupatta fall, how will the waist move, exactly when will the ‘chan’ sound will be heard…it was quite incredible”.
Meanwhile, Sonakshi Sinha, who also worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Heeramandi, shared a picture with him from the set. “Happiest birthday dear sir,” she wrote, along with a red heart emoji.
Heeramandi, which released on Netflix last year, revolves around the lives of tawaifs in the red-light district of Heeramandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Empire. Apart from Aditi and Sonakshi, it also stars Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal Mehta and Taha Shah Badussha.
