The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday (January 31) caught Madanapalle Rural Circle Inspector (CI) Ramesh Naidu and Ramasamudram Sub-Inspector (SI) Venkata Subbaiah for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹70,000.
The accused demanded the bribe for releasing a lorry that caused a road accident on January 23, 2025 under Ramasamudram police station limits, said ACB Director-General Atul Singh.
ACB sleuths laid a trap and arrested the SI while he was accepting ₹70,000 from the complainant at a petrol bunk. The accused would be produced before the Special Court for ACB Cases, Nellore, Mr. Atul Singh said in a release.
Warden, husband held
In a separate case, the Eluru Range ACB caught the warden of the Social Welfare Hostel for Girls, Nuzvid, P. Nagamani and her husband Ramoji Rao while they were allegedly accepting ₹30,000 as bribe.
The warden had recently removed an outsourced employee and allegedly demanded ₹30,000 to reinstate the employee, but the complainant approached the ACB.
ACB Eluru range officials trapped Nagamani and Ramoji Rao while they were taking the amount at their residence at Nuzvid in Eluru district on Friday (January 31).
Persons having complaints on corruption can alert the ACB by dialling ‘1064’ or can contact the ACB officers in their respective district, Mr. Atul Singh said.
