Loveyapa actor Junaid Khan has studied theatre at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in LA, California.

Junaid Khan was recently seen in Loveyapa, which released on 7th February.

Aamir Khan and Reena Datta’s son Junaid Khan, who recently made his big-screen debut with Loveyapa, has always acknowledged his privilege. He has been quite vocal about it, accepting that his background gives him an advantage. Now, in a recent interview, Junaid talked about his theatre education, sharing that he was able to attend theatre school, for which his parents spent a ‘ridonculous’ amount of money. He acknowledged that as a huge privilege, especially for a career with uncertain financial rewards.

In a conversation with Indian Express, Loveyapa actors Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan were both asked about having learnt acting, something that many actors of their parents’ generation never did. Khushi replied that her mom Sridevi never needed to, as she began acting at the age of 4. “To be fair, my mom didn’t need to because she started at 4. So I don’t think you can go to acting school at 3 years old,” she said. Meanwhile, Junaid replied that his father Aamir Khan did not attend a formal acting school. “Dad did spend a lot of time at FTII doing diploma films. So, he didn’t go to acting school per se. But yeah, he learnt largely on the job. I had the privilege of being able to go to theatre school, and spend a ‘ridonculous’ amount of my parents’ money on a theatre education. That’s a huge privilege, especially for a career that has no financial upside on the horizon,” he said.

He further added, “I think different actors also approach things differently. As we work, as we learn, we develop tools that come to our aid when we need them. But I think a lot of it is again, just language. If you talk to dad about it, he will have done something but we just call it different things.”

Junaid Khan studied theatre at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, California, after a Bachelor’s In Commerce degree in Bombay. He made his acting debut with the 2024 film ‘Maharaja’ which also starred Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey and Sharvari. Loveyapa, helmed by Laxman Utekar, marks Junaid’s theatrical debut. The film released in theatres on 7th February, 2025.
