Aamir Khan reacts to the box office failure of Junaid Khan’s debut film Loveyapa, calling it “bada dukh hai.”
Junaid Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, recently stepped into the limelight with his big-screen debut Loveyapa, alongside Khushi Kapoor. Despite the buzz surrounding the romantic comedy, the film fell short at the box office, leaving both fans and Junaid’s family disheartened. Aamir Khan, known for his emotional depth both on and off-screen, has now opened up about the film’s underperformance and his hopes for Junaid’s future.
In a candid conversation with ABP News, Aamir expressed his disappointment, saying, “Nahi chali woh film unfortunately. Toh mujhe uska bhi bada dukh hai (That film did not work. So I’m very sad about it).” He emphasized that both the film and Junaid’s performance were commendable, adding that he was significantly more anxious about Loveyapa than he had ever been for his own projects. Recalling the days leading up to the release, the 3 Idiots actor shared how he found himself nervously staring out the window, his heart pounding with anticipation. “Main dur se dekh raha hun lekin mera dil dhadak raha hai (I am watching from a distance, but my heart is beating fast),” he said, attributing the feeling to the unexplainable emotions of a father.
When asked about Junaid’s future projects, Aamir revealed that Junaid had already completed another film under Aamir Khan Productions. Slated for release towards the end of the year, likely in November or December, the film pairs Junaid with Sai Pallavi in what Aamir described as a “good love story.” He acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the film industry, stating, “This is a field where you have to face success and failure.” However, he remained optimistic, highlighting Junaid’s resilience and positivity as key traits that would guide him forward.
Loveyapa, while not a box office success, marked an earnest beginning for Junaid Khan. The film, a light-hearted romantic comedy, explored the complexities of modern relationships through humor and heart. With Junaid’s sincere performance and Khushi Kapoor’s charming presence, Loveyapa offered a glimpse into the fresh energy the next generation of Bollywood actors brings to the screen. Though the film didn’t soar commercially, it undoubtedly set the stage for Junaid’s evolving journey in the world of cinema.
