Guwahati, Mar 12: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a three-day visit to Assam from March 14, during which he will attend multiple events, including the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) in Kokrajhar, officials said on Tuesday.
Shah will arrive in Jorhat on March 14 and visit the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Dergaon on March 15. He will then proceed to Guwahati for an overnight stay. On March 16, he will attend the open session of the ABSU conference at Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma, in Kokrajhar.
The ABSU conference, held from March 13 to 16, is dedicated to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and will focus on education, youth development, and regional progress. The final day’s open session will also be attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Bodoland Territorial Council Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, senior ministers, parliamentarians, and key stakeholders. Discussions will cover education policies, economic initiatives, and regional development strategies.
Officials said the event will further Mission Quality Education Movement-2030, aiming to strengthen academic frameworks and skill-building opportunities. The Education and Youth Conclave will assess strategies to empower students and professionals, with experts analyzing the impact of the National Education Policy, 2020, on regional education.
The conference will also address peace, unity, and sustainable development in the Bodoland Territorial Region and Assam, emphasizing greater cooperation among communities.
ABSU President Dipen Boro described the event as a significant platform for collaboration, highlighting the role of education and empowerment in regional progress.
The event will also feature sports competitions, literary contests, a cultural evening, and an exhibition-cum-book fair showcasing Bodo heritage. A felicitation ceremony will honour Padma Shri recipient Anil Boro, Sahitya Akademi awardees, and outstanding achievers in academics, along with distinguished educators for their contributions.
