Nine years after its original release, Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, has made a remarkable comeback in theaters, gaining unexpected popularity despite stiff competition from newer releases. Amidst this revival, Hocane has opened up about her dream collaborations in Bollywood, naming Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor as actors she would love to work with.
“There are so many people [I want to work with], but I would definitely want to do a film with Salman Khan sir because I’ve been a big fan of him and have watched all his films while growing up,” she shared in a recent interview with Instant Bollywood. “I really hope he doesn’t retire anytime soon. I want him to work forever and hope there is an opportunity where I fit the part and be a part of his film.”
Hocane also expressed admiration for Ranbir Kapoor, revealing her deep appreciation for Rockstar and her desire to be part of a similar film with him. “Also, Ranbir Kapoor—I would definitely want to work with him… would love to do a film like Rockstar with him. It is another movie which I’ve watched many times,” she added.
In a conversation with Mid-Day, Hocane addressed speculation surrounding a possible sequel to Sanam Teri Kasam. She revealed that the producer had reached out to her regarding the project, though she has yet to read the script. While she remains undecided about her involvement, she expressed excitement over the idea of returning to her character.
Previously, in an interaction with Connect Cine, she spoke about her willingness to reprise her role but also emphasized that she would be content if another actress stepped into the character’s shoes. She credited Deepak Mukut, the film’s producer, for his efforts in keeping the movie relevant and expressed hope that the sequel would exceed expectations, regardless of her participation.
On the personal front, Mawra Hocane, who played Saru in Sanam Teri Kasam, recently tied the knot with her longtime partner, Ameer Gilani. Interestingly, the film, which initially struggled at the box office, has now experienced an extraordinary resurgence following its theatrical re-release. From being an underrated romance to finding a devoted cult following, Sanam Teri Kasam has solidified its place as a beloved classic.
