Fans have been eagerly anticipating the Russo Brothers’ return to assemble the Avengers in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday. As production intensifies, excitement has only grown—especially after Robert Downey Jr. confirmed his comeback to the MCU as Doctor Doom. However, the makers appear to be taking every precaution to prevent spoilers and leaks ahead of the film’s theatrical release.
In a recent interview, the Russos revealed that they had prepared plans and especially took care of them during the shooting. “We’re pretty good about shutting that down,” Joe Russo told Collider, with Anthony Russo adding, “We’ve sort of strategized to hopefully be effective with that.”
Joe went on to explain that they don’t want people to get pictures from the sets, thus focusing on being “pretty stringent,” when Anthony added that the shoot locations have been chosen with the concern in mind. Elsewhere during the conversation, the filmmakers also stated that each of the Avengers films they have will take six months for a “standard-length shoot.”
It is worth mentioning that leaks and swirling rumours have been a constant issue for the MCU. Almost every project has been seen becoming a target of leaks ahead of time, ranging from cosmetic choices, plot points, characters, cameos, and more. In the most recent instance, set pictures from Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine surfaced on the internet, even prompting Reynolds to plead with fans to refrain from sharing spoilers.
“Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It’s important for us to shoot the new ‘Deadpool’ film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone,” the actor said in December last year.
Even though the plot details are kept a secret, Doomsday alone is expected to be massive with a comic-book crossover that would unite heroes and villains for an epic clash. During the interview, Russo Brothers teased that the runtimes for both the upcoming Avengers films will be similar to Infinity War and Endgame. “The first one is two and a half, and the second one’s three hours,” they shared.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theatres on May 1, 2026.
