Drake never does things halfway. Whether it’s music, money, or sheer extravagance, he goes all in. His latest solo indulgence? Renting out an entire nightclub just to gamble, completely alone, while Sabrina Carpenter’s bubbly pop anthem Espresso blared through the speakers. Drake’s recent solitude might have something to do with his ongoing, highly publicised feud with Kendrick Lamar. The tension between the two was even acknowledged at the 2025 Oscars, where host Conan O’Brien didn’t miss the chance to take a dig at the One Dance singer. While addressing the audience mid-ceremony, O’Brien casually remarked that they had reached the halfway point – before slipping in a controversial joke.
“That means: It’s time for Kendrick Lamar to come and call Drake a paedophile,” he said. The comment immediately reignited discussions about hip-hop’s biggest rivalry, dragging Drake back into the headlines.
A video from the nightclub shows the rapper bundled up in an oversized coat, locked in on the massive screen in front of him. At one point, when luck isn’t on his side, he reacts with clear frustration. But the real scene-stealer? The unexpected soundtrack playing in the background.
Sabrina Carpenter’s upbeat, sugar-sweet tune fills the empty club while Drake, one of the biggest names in hip-hop, places his bets.
Naturally, social media had a field day. Fans couldn’t get over the contrast between the high-stakes gambling session and the playful, lighthearted song choice. Some joked that this was just an elaborate ad for Stake, the online sports betting and casino platform Drake is often seen promoting. Others teased him for, well, being alone.

While there’s no history of collaboration between Drake and Carpenter, she did once cover his 2013 hit ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home.’
According to The Express Tribune, fans had previously speculated that Universal Music Group tried to overshadow Drake’s Valentine’s Day album release by dropping Carpenter’s deluxe album the same day. But if his latest stunt says anything, it’s that there’s no bad blood. Just good music, high stakes and a whole lot of solo flexing.
