Michelle Trachtenberg’s tragic death at 39 in New York earlier this year left many disheartened. Known for her role as Georgina Sparkles in Gossip Girl, she was found dead at her apartment. Reportedly, the actress faced numerous health challenges and she was visibly ill in the last few days before her death. Now, in an interview, a longtime friend of the Gossip Girl has come out revealing that there was “something medically wrong” with her most of the time.
Speaking with US Weekly, Michelle Trachtenberg’s friend talked about her health and said, “She was very open with those close to her about having the transplant.” Further reflecting on the star’s health problems, Michelle said that the issues had been brewing for a long time. “She had back issues, and then bone problems and she also fell a few times,” the source said.
The friend went on to add, “Whenever we spoke, there was something medically wrong. Michelle was thrown a lot of curveballs with her health, but she did her best not to let it get her down.”
An industry insider also shared, “The last time I saw her, something felt off. You could sense something was going on. She was frail and had been sick for a while.”
According to reports, Michelle Trachtenberg had several health issues but chose to remain tight-lipped, instead assuring fans that she was doing fine. Months before her death, she also had a liver transplant following which her health began deteriorating. However, she never opened up about the same or “went into detail” about the surgery.
In the same conversation, the friend also shared that Michelle Trachtenberg would drink but did not do so “excessively in public.” Calling her more of a recluse, the friend added that she is not the type to party hard.
As per the portal, Michelle Trachtenberg was spotted at Soho’s trendy Sartiano’s restaurant with a group of friends days before her death. A fan who saw the actress during the outing also talked about her in a conversation with the portal, telling that “something seemed off about her.”
