Many celebrities give glimpses of their daily lives on social media where they share almost everything from what they eat to how they spend their free time. However, Yami Gautam has chosen to do things differently. The actress, recently seen in Dhoom Dhaam alongside Pratik Gandhi, is clear about setting boundaries and does not feel the need to update people on every little detail of her personal life.

“I am very much aware of social media and of the times we are living in. I also have a social media account, but it’s a very conscious decision that I don’t want to tell you what I ate for breakfast. I don’t want to tell you that I got injured in the gym yesterday. I don’t want to tell you anything,” she said in an interview with Instant Bollywood.

She further clarified that it is not about hiding things but about questioning the need to share everything. “Not because I don’t want to tell you, but it’s like who am I addressing? What is it going to do? Of course, there is going to be another story for different portals to pick up, but is it necessary? Do I want to be so accessible? Do I want people to come with preconceived notions about me. You know, I don’t want to,” she said.

For Yami, this decision is also connected to her work as an actor. She feels that keeping some things private helps audiences believe in the characters she plays. Quoting a senior actor, she said, “The less you know about me, the easier it is for me to convince you about the role I am playing.”

Yami’s preference for privacy is not just limited to her own life but also extends to her family. She and her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar, welcomed their son, Vedavid, in May 2024, and they have decided to keep him away from the media glare.

Speaking about this in an interview with News18 Showsha, Yami said, “You won’t see him. I mean, that’s a very personal choice which Aditya and I have taken. I think a child deserves a childhood which every other child needs to have. It has a psychological impact and we want him to just enjoy this life, to enjoy this blessing.”

Talking about her recent release, the rom-com Dhoom Dhaam is directed by Rishab Seth. It is produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar of B62 Studios, and Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios.

The film follows newlyweds Koyal and Veer on their first night together. What starts as a perfect evening soon turns into a night of unexpected twists with deceptive identities, surprise guests and some seriously awkward situations.

Dhoom Dhaam premiered on Netflix on February 14.
