Selena Gomez brought old Hollywood glamour to the Academy Awards 2025, turning heads with her stunning retro-inspired look. The singer-actor graced the star-studded event in a custom off-shoulder Ralph Lauren gown, intricately embellished with over 16,000 glass droplets and hand-sewn Rosemont crystals.
While Gomez has been focused on her acting career, leaving fans longing for new music, she dropped a hint at the Oscars Afterparty.
Speaking with Variety, she teased the possibility of fresh tracks in the works, playfully adding, “We’re doing it, we’re leaking it ourselves.”
Selena Gomez also shared a light-hearted moment with the journalist, poking fun at her past statement about stepping back from music. “I know, I tricked you,” she said.
Earlier in February, the 32-year-old spoke about why she finds it “very hard” to return to making music after the success of her latest release, Emilia Perez. Gomez, who was present at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, said, “I think film and art-making and being around such incredible, talented people who have done nothing but uplift me along the way. It is going to be very hard for me to ever go back to music after this.”
She also expressed her hopes for Emilia Perez to become a launching pad for her acting career.
Elsewhere in a conversation with Variety, the singer-actor said that she is a little too old for the pop star life. “I definitely think that my strong suit is probably acting but one thing I am proud of in music is being able to tell a story. My favourite songs are mostly ballads as they are very transparent and honest. But I think I am a little too old for the popstar life. I’m genuinely happy to be in this new phase of my life because, in a lot of ways, it’s just the beginning,” she said.
