Over the past few days, rumours have been making the rounds about Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi receiving honourary citizenship in the UK. Reports also suggested that the government had taken the decision to confer the honour upon him, following which Chiranjeevi might soon accept citizenship in the country and relocate to London. The actor’s team has finally reacted to the rumours, clearing the air about citizenship. The team, while dismissing the claims, also urged the media to verify their facts before publishing.

The post came in response to the rumours spreading widely on the internet, with fans even hailing the actor for the achievement. Fan pages even re-shared the news, with one of them adding, “His philanthropic efforts, especially in healthcare, have also earned him international recognition. A grand felicitation ceremony will be held in London.” In February, the actor, in a conversation with news anchor Suma, joked, “I almost revealed something, but I have stopped myself. Will you be able to come to London for an event? They will honour me in London,” fuelling the rumours even further.
A clarification from Chiranjeevi’s team left many in confusion. One wrote, “I don’t know what this event is, but the boss is being honored in England. At the Laila function, the boss leaked to Suma that “you have to do the anchoring,” while another commented, “Reports of Megastar #Chiranjeevi Garu receiving honorary UK citizenship are false.”
On the work front
Chiranjeevi was last seen in films like Bhola Shankar and Waltair Veerayya, while he will soon be in Vashistaa Mallidi’s socio-fantasy drama Vishwambhara. The highly-awaited film has been eagerly awaited ever since the makers unveiled a teaser, offering a glimpse into the stunning world.
Directed and written by Vashistaa, the film is produced by UV Creations and music from MM Keeravaani. Apart from Chiranjeevi, Vishwambhara also features Trisha Krishnan, Ashika Ranganath and Kunal Kapoor. On the other hand, Chiranjeevi signed a film with director Srikanth Odela, which is said to be in the pre-production stage. Director Anil Ravipudi will reportedly direct the megastar in his next film.
On the personal front, Chiranjeevi recently celebrated his 46th wedding anniversary with his wife, Surekha Konidela, joined by actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and Namrata Shirodkar.
