Lagaan Actor Aditya Lakhia Had This Much Fun At Ashutosh Gowariker’s Son Konark’s Wedding

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s son Konark Gowariker tied the knot with the daughter of real estate mogul Rasesh Kanakia on March 2 in Mumbai. A grand wedding ceremony followed by a star-studded reception had some renowned names from the industry in attendance. The inside photos and videos from the same have emerged online and it seems Ashutosh’s landmark film Lagaan remained in the spotlight throughout the event. Many actors from the film arrived to shower blessings on the couple including Aditya Lakhia, who played a polio-affected Dalit character named Kachra.

In a video that emerged online, we can see the actor patiently posing for the shutterbugs in a blue kurta and white pajama, perfect for a function like a wedding. Before heading to the venue, he made sure to bid adieu to the paps, smiling at them in a kind gesture.

Apart from Aditya, Lagaan stars Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh were also seen attending Konark Gowariker and Niyati Kanakia’s wedding reception. Aamir looked dapper in a suit while his Gracy managed to steal the limelight after her rare appearance. The function was grand, elevated by some noteworthy live performances and heartfelt speeches to celebrate the love story of the newly wedded couple – Konark and Niyati. Apart from the Lagaan actors, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Raj Thakrey, Eknath Shinde, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Chunky Pandey and Sajid Khan were also among the attendees at the wedding.

An inside video from the sangeet ceremony also showed the happy dad Ashutosh Gowariker shaking his legs on Lagaan’s song Mitwa. As the ace filmmaker co-ordinated his steps with others who joined him on stage, guests could be heard cheering out loud for him. In a touching moment, his son Konark also went on the stage to share a warm hug with his father in a testament to their remarkable bond as a son and a father.

The wedding festivities of Konark Gowariker and Niyati Kanakia began on February 28 with the haldi ceremony. It was followed by the sangeet ceremony on March 1, attended by close friends and family.

Lagaan, a 2001 Indian epic sports drama directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, is set in 1893 during the British Raj. The story depicts villagers who challenge their British rulers to a cricket match to avoid paying the oppressive lagaan (tax).
