Sandeep Reddy Vanga said the prosthetics didn’t look good and Ranbir didn’t use them in the final shot.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga opened up about Ranbir Kapoor’s nude walk scene in Animal and cited how important it is for a director and an actor to have chemistry. He said that a director and an actor need to have faith in each other’s vision. He recalled how Ranbir trusted his vision during the nude walk scene in Animal.

“The success of Animal is due to the understanding between Ranbir and me,” the Indian Express quoted him as saying. The director said, “Whatever I liked, he liked, and I’m still not sure how it happened. Even when I was asking him if we were going in the right direction, he simply asked me to do what I wanted to do and not ask him anything.”

Giving the example of the nude walk scene, Sandeep mentioned, “We had to put a prosthetic for the thighs and the lower part of the body, and it was perfect during the test shoot. However, during the actual shooting, it wasn’t looking nice. In fact, we planned to shoot the scene in full focus and use props to cover the groin as he walked. However, due to the prosthetics not working properly, I just said we would shoot the scene out of focus.”

“He just said okay immediately. There was no discussion. It was a ten-minute conversation where I said shooting it in out-of-focus would make things more spooky and curious. And he was ready… See, the results could be anything, but if this happens, the film would be fun; it is all about conviction,” he said.

Animal was one of the biggest films of Ranbir Kapoor’s filmography and was a game-changer in his career. Besides Ranbir, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri and Bobby Deol in key roles. The film became a turning point in all their careers.
