From their debut in Student of the Year to winning hearts with the Dulhania franchise, their chemistry has always been a fan favorite. Recently, speculation about a possible reunion in Dulhania 3 gained momentum when Alia was asked about it—and her reaction was priceless.
On Sunday, February 2, Alia hosted a special fan meet-up over lunch at a Mumbai restaurant. Pictures and videos from the event have been making waves on social media. In one of the clips, fans eagerly quizzed the actress about reuniting with Varun for the much-anticipated Dulhania 3.
While visibly thrilled by the question, Alia humorously pointed out a major roadblock, saying, “Haan par script honi chahiye na” (A script should be there, right?). But fans weren’t ready to take no for an answer! They quickly countered with, “Hum fans bana lenge” (We fans will make one).
Their enthusiasm left Alia in splits. Amused and impressed by the idea, she hyped them up further, saying, “That’s a great idea! It will be the first of its kind. Why don’t you all come together and write a script? It will be amazing. It’s a fabulous idea… chalo karo!” (Let’s do it!).
Alia and Varun first won hearts in Student of the Year (2012), followed by their rom-com hits Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017). Their sizzling on-screen chemistry, coupled with their off-screen camaraderie, has made them a favorite Bollywood duo.
Interestingly, the possibility of Dulhania 3 isn’t just wishful thinking. Back in 2023, Karan Johar himself confirmed his intent to continue the franchise. Speaking to Pinkvilla, he revealed, “We do want to make the third Dulhania film, and I hope we will at some point. It’s a love story franchise that doesn’t really exist elsewhere—it’s something we created. After Humpty and Badri, we’re definitely looking forward to making another Dulhania film.”
With Karan’s confirmation and Alia’s playful encouragement to fans, the buzz around Dulhania 3 is stronger than ever. Now, whether the fans take up the challenge of writing a script or the filmmakers finally get the ball rolling, only time will tell!
