Joining the league of performers like Daniel Fernandes, Aditi Mittal, Raunaq Rajani, Aadar Malik and Supriya Joshi, comedian Vineeth Srinivasan also performed at the Laughs Per Minute: Breathless Edition show in Mumbai on Friday night. During his performance, Vineeth left the audience in splits as he brought back the controversial ‘would you rather’ joke but with a twist. The said joke, made by Ranveer Allahbadia during India’s Got Talent, landed the YouTuber in massive trouble.

Since the comedy night was dedicated to the theme of rising air pollution in Mumbai, Vineet joked, “Would you rather watch your parents breathe the 2.5 pm particulate or get the government to participate and solve it forever?” The joke had the audience cheering for the comedian. As they calmed down, Vineeth went on to reflect on the air quality in Mumbai, comparing it to ‘smoking 2.9 cigarettes per day’. The comedian added that it would help save a smoker Rs 60 a day.

India’s Got Latent Controversy

To recall, the controversy around India’s Got Latent began after an FIR was filed last month against Apurva Makhija, YouTubers Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia Samay Raina and others associated with the show. In the FIR, the YouTuber and others were accused of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions during the show, easily accessible to watch on YouTube.

Furthermore, Ranveer Allahbadia came under scrutiny for his offensive remarks on the show. During his appearance on the show, the podcaster asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents… or join in once and stop it forever?”

The video of the same immediately went viral, prompting social media users to Ranveer for his offensive remarks. In a recent development, Maharashtra cyber police have reportedly summoned more than 30 people for questioning after registering an FIR against them.

Previously, Ranveer issued an apology and released a video statement. “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform and obviously, this is not how I wish to use it. I am not going to give any context, justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I am just here for an apology,” said the YouTuber in an interaction.
