Penn Badgley is about to have his hands full literally. The You star and his wife, actor Domino Kirke, are expecting twins. Kirke recently shared the big news on Instagram with an excited post, calling it a “plot twist” she never saw coming.
“Babies #3 and #4 coming this Summer! Talk about a PLOT TWIST! Spontaneous twins are beyond magical. We are stunned. We are in awe. Can’t think of anyone else I would rather be on this ride with Penn Badgley. #handsoffthewheel #monoditwins,” she wrote. The hashtag “monoditwins” is a reference to monochorionic diamniotic twins, fetuses which have separate amniotic sacs but share a placenta.
The Instagram post featured two heartwarming photos. In one, a set of black-and-white photobooth images captured Badgley and their 4-year-old son kissing Kirke’s growing baby bump. The second showed a red heart-shaped cake with the words “marry me over & over” written on top.
Badgley and Kirke, who got married in 2017, are already parents to their son James, 4, born during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kirke also has a 16-year-old son, Cassius, 16, from a previous relationship with musician Morgan O’Kane.
For Badgley, fatherhood has been a joyful experience. He has often referred to raising James as a “blessing.”
“The great bounty that I got out of it is that our baby … has only been with us. He loves it,” Badgley revealed in 2021 on The Jess Cagle Show.
The actor has mostly kept his family life private but has shared glimpses of his parenting journey. In an interview with Access Hollywood in 2023, he talked about James’ adorable habit of referring to himself in the third person.
“He’s talking a lot,’ Badgley said, referring to his son. The actor explained, “He says ‘you’ instead of ‘me.’ Like, instead of saying like, ‘I’m hungry’ or like ‘I’m finished,’ he’ll be like, ‘Are you all finished?’. Badgley said he found it extremely funny when his son did that.
On the professional front, Penn Badgley is set to return as the psycho killer Joe Goldberg for You Season 5. The final season premieres on April 24 and will also star Madeline Brewer, Anna Camp and Griffin Matthews.
