Superboys Of Malegaon Box Office Day 1

Superboys of Malegaon didn’t quite swoop into theatres with superhero strength. Reema Kagti’s latest flick has earned the unfortunate title of the lowest box office opener of the year! Despite its quirky charm and good promotions, the film struggled to pull in audiences on Day 1. However, it is expected to see a growth in the coming days.

Superboys of Malegaon is based on the life of Nasir Shaikh and other amateur filmmakers in the city of Malegaon. According to Sacnilk, the film has had a dull start at the box office, earning only Rs 45 lakh.

According to trade reports, Superboys of Malegaon managed to rake in just Rs 45 lakh on its opening day, making it the lowest-opening film of 2025 so far. It has now taken the spot from Loveyapa (Rs 1.15 crore), which previously held the record. The film struggled with occupancy as well, averaging only 8.85 per cent throughout the day—starting at 6.05 per cent in the morning, slightly improving to 6.89 per cent in the afternoon, 9.11 per cent in the evening, and peaking at 13.36 per cent for the night shows.

Superboys of Malegaon couldn’t even outshine Crazxy, starring Sohum Shah, which earned Rs 90 lakh on its opening day despite releasing on the same date. It now joins the list of 2025’s underwhelming box office debuts, alongside Badass Ravikumar (Rs 2.75 crore) featuring Himesh Reshammiya, Aman Devgn and Rasha Thadani’s debut film Azaad (Rs 1.5 crore), and the Arjun Kapoor-Bhumi Pednekar-Rakul Preet Singh rom-com Mere Husband Ki Biwi (Rs 1.5 crore).

The film stars Adarsh Gourav as Nasir, Vineet Kumar Singh as Farogh, Shashank Arora as Shafique, Anuj Singh Duhan as Akram, Riddhi Kumar as Mallika, Saqib Ayub as Irfan, Gyanendra Tripathi as Nihal, and Muskkaan Jaferi as Shabeena. The film was featured in the Gala section at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024.
