Suniel Shetty is overjoyed as he prepares to welcome his first grandchild. His daughter, Athiya Shetty, and cricketer KL Rahul announced in November 2024 that they were expecting their first child, with the due date set for 2025. While the couple initially kept the specific month under wraps, Suniel Shetty has now revealed that the baby is expected to arrive in April.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Suniel shared that baby talk has taken over all their family conversations. “Right now, probably the grandchild. There’s no other conversation, and we don’t want any other conversation. We’re just looking forward (to meeting the grandchild) in April,” he said, expressing his excitement.
The Hera Pheri actor further reflected on the beauty of pregnancy, saying that while he has always found women beautiful, his wife Mana Shetty looked the most radiant when she was expecting. “I see Athiya, and she’s looking the most beautiful,” he added, cherishing this special phase in his daughter’s life.
Athiya and KL Rahul shared the news of their pregnancy last year through a heartwarming Instagram post. The couple, who tied the knot in 2023 at Suniel Shetty’s Khandala farmhouse, announced their baby’s arrival with a touching message: “Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025.” The announcement featured an adorable visual of tiny baby feet and an evil eye symbol for protection.
On the work front, Suniel Shetty is gearing up for his next big releases. He will be seen in Welcome To The Jungle, the fifth installment of the Welcome franchise, alongside Akshay Kumar and an ensemble cast. He is also set to reprise his iconic role in Hera Pheri 3, directed by Priyadarshan, with filming scheduled to begin between August and September 2025.
