Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is working towards publishing the draft of RMP-2040 in the next two to three months, BDA Commissioner N. Jayaram said.

“The Department of Survey, Settlement, and Land Records has already done a drone survey of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) area of the city. We are presently carrying out a drone survey of the BDA area, excluding the BBMP area. The survey work is almost half complete,” he said, adding that the BDA was gearing up to publish the draft of RMP-2040 over the next two to three months.

However, this has again drawn the ire of civic activists in the city, especially in the backdrop of the state government submitting an affidavit in the Supreme Court that civic polls in the city cannot be held before August 15 this year.

“We challenged Draft RMP – 2031 in the High Court as it was not spearheaded by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Planning Committee (BMPC) as mandated by the 74th amendment of the constitution. Now, BDA is again making the same mistake with Draft RMP-2040. Without an elected council, there is no BMPC, and without that, if the draft of the RMP is published, we will be back to square one,” N.S. Mukunda, a petitioner challenging the Draft RMP-2031 said.
