Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have been hitting the headlines amid speculations that they may be heading for divorce after 37 years of marriage. Govinda once told Stardust Magazine that his kundali (birth chart) mentioned that he would get married twice. In the 1990 interview, the actor opened up about his feelings for his co-stars and said that if Sunita would be prepared, a second marriage could be in the cards for him.
Govinda said, “Tomorrow, who knows, I may get involved again, and maybe I will marry the girl I get involved with. But Sunita should be prepared for it. Only then will I feel free. And there is a second marriage in my kundali.” Govinda mentioned how he was in love with Neelam Kothari but only married Sunita as he had given her his word already.
He said, “Well I am a firm believer of destiny. What has to happen, will happen. Yes, I like Juhi a lot. Even Divya Bharti. Divya is a very sensuous girl. It’s difficult for a man to resist her. I know Sunita is going to be very upset with all this. But she should know that I am still resisting Divya’s charms. I haven’t given into the temptation as yet.” Divya Bharti was 17 years old at the time.
Meanwhile, amid the ongoing speculations, Govinda addressed the rumours and told ETimes, “These are only business talks going…I am in the process of starting my films.” Meanwhile, the portal also quoted Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha saying, “There have been issues between the couple due to certain statements made by certain members from the family. There is nothing more to it and Govinda is in process of starting a film for which artists are visiting our office. We are trying to resolve it.”
Reportedly, Sunita Ahuja had filed for divorce six months ago but the couple is back together now. Govinda and Sunita have been married for nearly 37 years now. They have two children, a daughter Tina and a son Yashvardhan.
