Bigg Boss Tamil Season 3’s Losliya has undergone immense transformation. In a chat with CNN-News 18, she talks about the same, while also opening up about her upcoming film Gentlewoman.

Bigg Boss Tamil Season 3’s Losliya has undergone immense transformation.

Losliya is a changed person. The Sri Lankan girl from Bigg Boss Tamil Season 3, who became a favourite for her lovable Tamil laden with a Sri Lankan accent, has been replaced by a mature person, and even her accent is absent. “I had to work on it. Also, I have been here for the past five years. So, I don’t talk like that anymore, she said, in a chat with CNN-News18. Losliya is looking forward to her upcoming Tamil film, Gentlewoman, which also has Lijomol Jose as a lead. “I play a woman called Anna. The film came my way when I was looking for something challenging. And I knew director Joshua Sethuraman even before the project, and he suggested I do the film.”

“Honestly, I was a bit sceptical about doing the role. Even a look at the trailer will leave people forming a ‘sort’ of opinion about Anna. So I wasn’t sure if I should do the film.” The trailer of Gentlewoman hints that Losliya’s Anna is having an affair with a married man, who seems to be missing. Anna is in search of him, while his wife (played by Lijomol Jose) seems to be harbouring a secret. “It will be easy to judge Anna on a superficial glance. However, there’s a scene in the film, where she gets to explain her state, which I felt was convincing,” Losliya says when asked about Gentlewoman.

When asked if Bigg Boss was of any help for her career, Losliya admits, “Bigg Boss put me out there. I know no one in the industry, and I have no friends to help me with opportunities in cinema. While Bigg Boss might have made my face recognisable, if you ask if it laid a pathway to cinema, I don’t think so. How one goes about shaping the career after the show is solely on them. For some reason, my season was watched by everyone in the industry. Whenever I approach a producer, they remember the season, which is a happy thing.”

Losliya has been sweating it out in the gym for the past four years, and she continues to do it every day. She has a reason behind her intense training regime. “I do gym, pilates, and yoga every single day. When my first few films were released, I didn’t like myself on screen. Also, while watching a show in a theatre, an audience, who wasn’t aware that I was sitting behind him said, ‘Is this even a good face? How is she an actor?’ I took it personally. It hurt me. I am someone who grew up watching Tamil cinema and its stars. Though I can’t become as good as some actresses, I can try. Getting up and hitting the gym is something that’s in my hand. Instead of being lazy, I can try getting in shape, I thought,” Losliya says.

Whenever a celebrity goes through such immense transformation, a popular comment they receive is: “We like your older version.” And Losliya is no exception to the phenomenon. “I got tired of telling everyone why I did this. I had health issues, and my doctor told me to lose weight. That too played a role in my decision. But people who liked the chubby Losliya from Bigg Boss do tell me that they miss her,” she grins.

Losliya was recently seen in Mr Housekeeping, which is one of the rare small-budget films that has managed to survive in theatres for more than about a month, despite competition from big releases. “This hasn’t happened to me before, and I am really glad many watched my film, and I hope I get the same love for Gentlewoman.” Gentlewoman is hitting the screens on March 7.
