Himesh Reshammiya recently opened up about how Salman Khan gave him his big break in music with Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya.
Himesh Reshammiya reflects on his journey, from Badass Ravikumar’s inspiration to how Salman Khan kickstarted his music career with Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya.
Actor-composer Himesh Reshammiya recently appeared on Farah Khan’s vlog, where he reflected on the inspiration behind Badass Ravikumar and shared fascinating anecdotes about his encounters with Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.
Explaining why he ventured into a film like Badass Ravikumar, Himesh said, “The character comes from my childhood memories of Indian cinema. Even in my music albums, whenever I sing 90s songs, they resonate deeply with audiences. People still love retro vibes. The best line in the film was ‘logic optional,’ and the audience loved it. I enjoy films that serve as stressbusters and bring joy.”
During the conversation, Himesh also expressed his admiration for Aamir Khan, recalling how Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak influenced his journey as a producer. “I love Aamir Khan. In 1988, I attended the film’s trial, and many doubted its success. But I told my dad it would break records, and when it did, I gained his trust. That’s when he gave me money to produce a serial,” he shared.
Himesh further revealed an interesting twist involving Salman Khan. “We were almost set to sign Aamir for a film my father was producing, but it didn’t materialize. Instead, we approached Salman Khan. Though that film never took off, Salman remembered my music. He got me a song in Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya. It was tough to make a title track for a phrase already famous from Mughal-E-Azam, but it worked. That break changed everything for me—I would have been stuck in serials otherwise. I was a producer first, but Salman Bhai’s support pushed me into music.”
While Badass Ravikumar struggled at the box office, earning less than ₹10 crores, Himesh remains undeterred, continuing to embrace his passion for music and cinema.
