Ranveer Allahbadia has been stirring up controversy with his comments on the edgy reality talent show India’s Got Latent. Interestingly, a while back, he joked that his sense of humour might land him in jail. Following the recent drama, many of his older podcast clips have resurfaced online and are going viral, including one with the popular comedian Vir Das.

In this video, they discuss the balance between being authentic and being funny. While Vir, an Emmy-winning comedian, stresses the importance of staying true to oneself, Ranveer admits he has no problem with the audience knowing him but finds it challenging to be funny. Ranveer said, “I never had a struggle with that, but I have had struggled for being a funnier, dude. That’s why I’m asking you, I’m asking Zakir Khan.”

When Vir suggested he try new experiences, Ranveer made a viral remark, “If I really expose my sense of humour, I would go to jail.”

Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial ‘sex with parents’ question

“Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life. Or would you join in once and stop it forever?” asked Ranveer Allahbadia to a contestant on India’s Got Latent. He even went as far as asking the same contestant about the length of his p****.

The question even caught Raina off guard, despite his reputation for dark humour. “What the f***?” he reacted. Raina was even heard asking, “Kya ho gaya hai Ranveer bhai ko? [What has happened to Ranveer?]”

Outrage over comments

Ranveer Allahbadia’s question irked many and they demanded the show be banned in India. It also led to multiple FIRs against the show’s host Samay Raina and guest judges YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, comedian Jaspreet Singh, YouTuber-Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia and content creator Apoorva Mukhija, who is popularly known as The Rebel Kid.

As the backlash intensified, Ranveer apologised for his questions and remarks and admitted a “lapse of judgement” on his part. Samay Raina removed all the episodes from his YouTube channel.
