Stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui has stepped into the world of satire with his latest show, Hafta Vasooli. It is currently streaming on JioHotstar. The show, a quirky take on political and cultural happenings, blends comedy with sharp commentary in a newsroom-style format.
In the latest update, Hafta Vasooli has now found itself at the centre of controversy, as a complaint has been filed against it. It accuses the show of offending religious sentiments and promoting obscenity. Calls for a ban have also surfaced.
Advocate Amita Sachdeva has filed a complaint against Hafta Vasooli, seeking an FIR under BNS Sections 196, 299, and 353, as well as the IT Act and other relevant laws. The complaint alleges that the show “insults multiple religions,” “violates cultural values,” and is responsible for “polluting young minds and society.”

Earlier, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had also demanded a ban on Hafta Vasooli. In a tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter), they had written, “We demand an immediate ban on #HaftaVasooli airing on Jio Hotstar! In this show @munawar uses foul language, which is unacceptable for public viewing. It sinks moral values. Streaming platforms must act responsibly! @JioHotstar @MIB_India #JioHotstar_Ban_HaftaVasooli @UdayMahurkar @SachdevaAmita.”

The debut episode of Hafta Vasooli premiered on February 14, featuring Sharib Hashmi and Vivian Dsena as guests. The second episode followed with Saqib Saleem joining the satirical comedy show.
The controversy surrounding Hafta Vasooli comes at a time when comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent is also under fire. The uproar began after guest Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, posed an inappropriate question to a contestant:
“Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?”
The shocking remark led to widespread backlash, multiple FIRs against Ranveer, and even discussions being made in the Supreme Court and Parliament. Samay Raina ultimately removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube.
