Administrations of Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Parvatipuram-Manyam districts are making fool-proof arrangements for the North Andhra Teachers MLC election scheduled to be held on February 27, 2025 in the region. Apart from these three districts, the teachers who enrolled as voters would cast their votes in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Alluri Sitaramaraju districts. The total number of voters is 22,493 in all the six districts.

As many as 5,223 voters will cast their votes in 29 polling stations and 5,035 voters would choose their candidate by casting their votes in 31 centres. Relatively, the voters’ number is less in Parvathipuram-Manyam district compared to other districts. The officials arranged 15 polling centers to enable 2,333 voters to cast their votes in Parvatiipuram-Manyam district.

Srikakulam Collector Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar said special casual leave was sanctioned for all government teachers in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. He asked the managements of private educational institutions to allow their teachers to participate in the election by adjusting their working hours. Vizianagaram Collector B.R. Ambedkar and Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal reviewed the polling arrangements at the polling stations while directing the officials concerned not to allow anyone into the polling booth without a valid vote.

Meanwhile, sitting MLC Pakalapati Raghuvarma exuded confidence that he would win the election with a thumping majority as almost all teachers’ associations extended their support officially. He promised to raise the issues such as Contributory Pension System, payment of all arrears and establishment of New Pay Revision Commission and others. Mr.Raghuvarma who is from Vizianagaram district thanked the people’s representatives of The Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena Party and Bharatiya Janata Party for extending their moral support to him.
