NDRF 10th Batallion deploys teams to rescue persons trapped in SLBC tunnel in Telangana

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 10th Battalion has deputed four teams to rescue the persons trapped in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Telangana.

Eight persons were trapped in the tunnel at Domalapenta village in Nagarkurnool district, when a part of the tunnel caved in on Saturday.

Speaking to The Hindu on Sunday, NDRF 10th Battalion Commandant V.V.N. Prasanna Kumar said that three teams have been sent to Domalapenta from the battalion headquarters located at Kondapavuluru village in Krishna district.

Besides, the Regional Response Centre (RRC), Hyderabad, was coordinating with various government and private agencies involved in the rescue operation, Mr. Prasanna Kumar, was monitoring the operation, said.

“NDRF teams, including experts in rescue operations from collapsed structures and bore well operations have been deployed to Telangana with necessary equipment,” the Commandant said.

“We are ready to deploy more teams to SLBC tunnel where the engineers and the workmen are trapped,” Mr. Prasanna Kumar who is camping at Domalapenta said.
