Nagaon, Feb 21: Assam police have arrested 10 individuals in connection with the alleged assault on Congress MP Rakibul Hussain in Nagaon on February 20. The incident occurred at Natun Bazar while Hussain was on his way to attend a Congress workers’ meeting in Gunabari.
According to sources, a group of masked individuals waved black flags at Hussain before launching the attack. His bodyguard was also assaulted in the altercation, escalating tensions in the area.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the arrests on his official X handle, stating that legal action would be taken. “The police have identified the individuals involved in the alleged incident of assault on Congress MP Sri Rakibul Hussain,” he wrote.

4. Kasem Ali of Kawoimari
5. Rosidul of Kawoimari
6. Ayub Gunabari
7. Lutkior of Rail station
8. Khaleque of Rowmari
9. Mojibur of Gorematikhowa
10. Jahangir of Koachgaon
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
