B. Ashok, Principal Secretary (Agriculture) and Agriculture Production Commissioner, has filed a contempt of court petition in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) against Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan for alleged wilful disobedience of the tribunal order.

Mr. Ashok, who recently secured a stay from the tribunal on his transfer to the Local Self-government department as head of a yet-to-be-constituted Local Self-government Reforms Commission, accused the Chief Secretary of deliberately discarding the directions of the tribunal by issuing his transfer order before he completed his term as Agriculture Production Commissioner and without convening the Civil Service Board for recommending posting of IAS cadre officers.

Ms. Muraleedharan, he contended in the petition, lowered the authority and dignity of the tribunal and interfered with the due course of justice.
