Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday gave a shout-out to ‘Chhaava’ — a Hindi film based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj — and said that the movie is “making its waves throughout the country” these days.
While lauding Maharashtra and Mumbai for their contribution to the film industry, the Prime Minister said that they have given a new height to the Marathi and Hindi film industries.
“It is Maharashtra and Mumbai which has given a new height to Marathi as well as Hindi cinema. And these days, Chhaava is making waves throughout the country (In dino to Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai). The introduction of Sambhaji Maharaj’s valour in this form has been made by Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel,” PM Modi said while addressing Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi.
His remarks came in reference to Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava which hit the theatres on February 14 and has gained praise since then. The film has so far earned Rs 219.75 crore.
