Reports circulating on the internet claim that cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma’s divorce has been finalised. However, Dhanashree’s lawyer, Aditi Mohoni, has denied this. In an official statement, she clarified that the matter still sub judice, and hasn’t been finalised yet.
“I have no comments to make on the proceedings, the matter is currently sub judice. The media should fact-check before reporting, as a lot of misleading information is being circulated,” said Dhanashree’s lawyer Aditi Mohoni, in a statement released to the press on Friday.
Meanwhile, a family member of the Verma family issued a statement and called alimony reports “baseless”. The family member expressed disappointment with the viral claims and urged everyone not to spread “baseless” information. “We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. Let me be absolutely clear—no such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumors whatsoever. It is deeply irresponsible to publish such unverified information, dragging not just the parties but also their families into unnecessary speculation. Reckless reporting like this only causes harm, and we urge the media to exercise restraint and fact-check before spreading misinformation and also be respectful towards everyone’s privacy,” read the statement.
According to reports, the pair completed the legal proceedings at Bandra Family Court on Thursday. Chahal and Dhanashree were asked to attend a counselling session for around 45 minutes with the duo informing the judge they are seeking divorce due to ‘compatibility issues’. They were reportedly living separately for the past 18 months.
Amidst the reports of their divorce being finalised, both Chahal and Dhanashree have shared cryptic posts on their respective Instagram accounts. “God has protected me more times than I can count. So I can only imagine the times I’ve been rescued that I don’t even know about. Thank you, God, for always being there, even when I don’t know it. Amen,” read a post shared by Chahal.
Yuzvendra and Dhanashree got married in December 2020. They first met virtually during Covid lockdown, when Chahal was taking dance lessons from Dhanashree.
