In a joint operation, the Krishna and the Palnadu district police traced five minor girls who escaped from their homes after their parents had reprimanded them for not attending classes regularly.

The girls, all natives of Gannavaram mandal were studying first year intermediate and they left their homes on Thursday (February 20). Parents alerted the police by dialling ‘112’ and Superintendent of Police R. Gangadhar Rao immediately formed special teams to trace the girls.

Police teams identified the girls at Piduguralla Railway Station late in the night when they were waiting for a train. The Gannavaram police brought back all the five girls, counselled them in the presence of Tahsildar Venkata Sivaiah and handed them over to their parents.

“Gannavaram Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ch. Srinivas, Sattenapalli DSP M. Hanumantha Rao, CIs, SIs and their staff participated in the operation. The girls were handed over safely in just three hours after receiving the complaint,” the SP said.
